The first step in Unearthing is to learn more about you, your needs, and your hopes by meeting for an intake session. The intake session can take place virtually or in person. Together, we will create an intention plan for your current hopes, needs, and goals. This personalized approach ensures that we choose the frequency of our sessions—typically weekly or biweekly—that best supports your wellness journey. This collaborative process fosters a nurturing environment where you can flourish and progress at your own pace.
Sessions can take place in the office setting, outside, virtually or on a trail!

Somatic therapy isn’t your typical talk-it-out approach—it’s where body and mind throw a healing party together. By tuning into what your body’s whispering (or sometimes shouting), like that nagging tension or unexpected moments of calm, you unlock a treasure trove of emotional wisdom. In our sessions, we dive into breath work, gentle movement, and mindfulness exercises that help shake loose pent-up stress and emotions hiding in your muscles. This approach is a game-changer for anyone wrestling with trauma, anxiety, or chronic pain, offering a pathway to heal not just the mind but the whole self. Ready to reconnect with your body’s stories and cultivate a stronger, more balanced you? Let’s get moving—inside and out.

The fundamental premise of a Nature-Based approach is that the well-being of humans is intimately linked with their environment and the natural world. Humans are nature. While these sessions may be practiced outdoors, in office or virtually, the focus always includes nature engagement in some form for the purpose of achieving therapeutic goals. Nature-based sessions draw on mindfulness, sensory awareness, eco-art, engagement with spontaneous natural events, contact with nature/living beings as emotional resources, gentle to moderate physical activities, yoga, walk and talks, meditation, adventure therapy, animal assisted therapy and nature conservation.

Trauma Conscious Yoga (TCY), or trauma-sensitive yoga, uses practices from traditional yoga and somatic psychotherapy. Both evidence based practices are created to empower clients, to assist in reconnecting the mind and body. A TCY teacher is specially certified to assist clients who are living with and healing from trauma. By avoiding actions, phrases, conditions and situations that are common triggers, TCY teachers create a safe environment for exploring and healing.

TRE® (Trauma Release Exercises) is a simple approach to releasing tension and stress from the body. This practice involves completing a series of seven exercises that specifically target the psoas muscles, which help trigger a natural shaking or “tremoring” throughout the entire body. By doing so, it enables individuals to release both acute and chronic stress while fostering a sense of balance, relaxation, and relief from tension. TRE® is accessible to everyone and is beneficial not only for managing everyday stressors but also for unearthing deeply rooted trauma.

At UnEarthed Wellness Studio, our anti-oppressive therapy practice is grounded in an awareness of the deep-rooted structural and systemic inequalities that shape our lives. We recognize how power and oppression play out across social groups—some holding privilege and power, while others face marginalization. This perspective nurtures compassion and helps us understand how each person's experiences are influenced by the larger systemic forces at work.
By acknowledging where individuals fall on this spectrum, we gain a richer, more nuanced appreciation of their unique journeys. Our approach fosters a relational dynamic based on equality, aiming to dismantle traditional power hierarchies often found in therapeutic settings. This creates a safe environment where all voices are honored, enabling authentic connection and healing.
Our goal is to cultivate a practice that respects and honors each individual’s experience, fostering growth and transformation in a supportive, equitable space.
Your therapist at UnEarthed Wellness Studio will:
Acknowledge and respect your cultural, religious, and spiritual practices and identity
Honor the language you use to express yourself
Respect your identity, pronouns, and chosen name
Support you in recognizing and challenging internalized racism, sexism, and other oppressive beliefs, if you choose
Commit to lifelong learning and self-reflection to better support your healing journey
Together, we create a space where your story matters, and your growth is nurtured with kindness and respect.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy helps you heal by focusing on your body’s movements, posture, and sensations. It’s a gentle, empowering way to work through trauma, difficult relationships, and attachment problems.
This therapy works with your body, emotions, and thoughts to boost overall well-being. By combining body and mind work, it uncovers hidden information that regular talking therapy might miss, leading to lasting changes and a stronger mind-body connection.
People often notice less emotional and physical pain, fewer trauma and anxiety symptoms, better emotional control, improved posture, deeper relationships, clearer boundaries, and a stronger sense of self. It suits those who can connect with their inner experiences, though it might not be ideal for people with difficulty focusing, certain disabilities, severe distress, or addiction. Still, it can be adapted to fit individual needs, strengths, and goals.
Healing takes both safety and risk. This therapy may bring up tough memories and strong feelings, sometimes making symptoms worse briefly. You’ll be encouraged to face uncomfortable feelings and try new things that push your limits gently.
