Root: I Am Supported

Oct 2: I AM SUPPORTED

We continue with our roots: trust, support, and the early developmental experience of being held.

The Shape: Constructive Rest
Rest on your back with your feet as wide as your mat/blanket and knees together. Allow your arms land wherever they’re comfortable. Notice the weight of your head, shoulders, back, pelvis, and feet being met by the ground beneath you. Experiment with allowing the ground to hold a little more of you.

If lying on your back isn’t accessible, sit with your back supported by a chair or wall.

The Mantra: I Am Supported.
Say out loud or in your mind, I am supported. You do not have to believe it. Notice what happens in your body when you hear the words - ease, resistance, emotion, sensation, or even nothing at all.

Notice what is already true right now: there is something beneath you. Your body is being met by the ground. In this moment, you can rest into support.

Linger for one song, 4–8 breaths, or about two minutes. Choose your way.
